THE LATVIAN BASKETBALL FEDERATION HAS ENTERED INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE MANUFACTURER OF 3X3 BASKETBALL COURTS BERGO FLOORING AB

The Latvian Basketball Federation will together with Bergo Flooring build qualitative 3x3 basketball courts in Latvia which will be set up according to the highest demands of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The courts will be used for both training and competition.

In Latvia, FIBA 3x3 basketball according to international rules has been played since 2011. In 2017, men’s 3x3 national team of Latvia won the title of European champion and in 2019 they reached the second place in the World Cup. In 2021, they won in the first Olympic FIBA 3x3 basketball tournament. In 2019, women’s national team of Latvia won bronze medal in the European Championship and U22 men’s national team won silver medals in the World U22 Championship in 2018.

The president of the Latvian Basketball Association, Raimonds Vējonis:

– Latvia is proud of the titles of European and Olympic Games in 3x3 basketball, but we must invest serious efforts to ensure that this success is continued. The cooperation with “Bergo Flooring AB” provides an opportunity to improve the infrastructure of 3x3 basketball ensuring a possibility for both new and experienced basketball players to train and play on qualitative courts. This will foster popularity of 3x3 basketball and help developing new talents.

Last summer, 17 tournaments were played in various towns in Latvia. The championship for Latvia “OlyBet Sports Bar” 3x3 basketball cup of organised by Latvian Basketball Association (LBA) with the participation of 138 teams from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Ukraine.
